I am gradually adding more content (so far related to my book “Driving In Japan”) but it is slow going. After all, I have a day job – and I really want to spend my hobby time writing books (“spare time” is a somewhat elusive concept when you have three kids).
But slow means steady. I will keep on hammering at it. And there is an enormous need for education, not just about Japan and how to get the best out of it, but also about how to use the (free) planning tools that are available.
I am not even thinking about specialized applications, I am talking about simple things like the search function in Facebook groups, or Google Maps. Especially Facebook. When I see the question “What is the weather like in Japan right now” asked for the millionth time I wish Facebook would enable ChatGPT.
It seems people are becoming less computer literate as time goes by. Once, you had to understand set theory to compose a search engine query. Now you do not even have to know how to spell. My biggest fear of making a guide about how to find information about travel in Japan is that those who would need it do not know enough about searching to find it.
Well, I can address that after I am done. First thing is to write that page….
